What is the key to successful, sustainable change?
Mindful eating. And a good relationship with food. Which is built on mindfulness.
Mindful eating and appetite regulation takes some time to practice and tune into, however you do have it. You were born with the innate ability to stop eating when you were full. However by the time you hit toddler age, you most likely overrode these regulators in favour for Arnott's Teddy Bear biscuits.

Emphasis also needs to be placed more on your behaviours rather than just limiting calories.
Think a little wider about your meal times, shopping habits, cooking skills, drinking enough water, whether you are meeting your two serves of fruit a day. These are all goals that can be set and improved on which will lead to a positive health outcome (eg. feeling more energy to exercise, better sleep, change in body shape). Changing (or creating) habits will help you stick to better choices in the long term, but again things take practice and at times you will need to keep working at them when life gets in the way.
